Breath. Asanas. Equanimity. A Peaceful Mind
Yoga @ Connie’s is in a refurbished barn located at 5242 Niantic Rd. Latham, IL. The first yoga studio in the Decatur area. Our classes offer Vinyasa Flow-Style with some Iyengar and Ashtanga that works on physical alignment.
The old fitness mentality is over..We are way pass tearing our bodies to shreds simply to be more aesthetically pleasing. Yoga is about working hard sensitively. It’s about feeling good and not looking good. The focus in our classes is balance and healing. Yoga is much more than just stretching and moving the body from one pose to the next. The art, philosophy, and science of yoga go back thousands of years. Yoga gives us control of ourselves. It helps cut through the layers of mis-identities that arise in response to our actions, experiences and feelings. It calms the frenzy, clears the clutter and allows us to get back in touch with ourselves.
Forget those worries about whether you are doing yoga “right” or possess the trendiest exercise fashion. We’re not that kind of studio. Instead, bring yourself – whatever your age or ability – and an open heart… we’ll take it from there! There’s never been a better time to get started. Our class sizes vary, but there is enough room for all that want to change their lives.
The cost of my classes have nothing to do with the lack of knowledge, training or being athletically active. Teaching yoga offers me the challenge and joy of self discovery, and it allows me to contribute to society. .I want to see all social levels whether it is income, education, wealth or occupation have the opportunity to receive the health benefits from yoga. One of my favorite Gandhi quotes about teaching..
“A teacher who establishes rapport with the taught, becomes one with them, learns more from them than he teaches them. He who learns nothing from his disciples is, in my opinion, worthless. Whenever I talk with someone I learn from him. I take from him more than I give him. In this way, a true teacher regards himself as a student of his students. If you will teach your pupils with this attitude, you will benefit much from them”.
